Issue I Book/Song Submissions

Guidelines

Here are the general guidelines for submitting! These guidelines can also be found on 1. our Instagram post and 2. on the submission form.

  • Writers must be aged 13-19 (this is a magazine for teens! If you're twelve but about to turn 13, let us know and we'd be happy to make an exception if warranted 🥰)

  • All pieces must be written in English (and if you write in a different language, please provide an English translation!)

  • Be in one of the following categories: prose, poetry, art, or photography. You can submit to each section multiple times and also submit to multiple categories

  • Follow the theme (please!). Unfortunately, we will have to reject your submission if you don't follow the theme (feel free to interpret it any way you wish, though!)

  • Stay in the word counts of your genre! It's alright if it's over by a couple words, but nothing too insane (see word counts below!)

  • We accept simultaneously submitted pieces—however, please contact us if you are accepted elsewhere.

  • Please use some common sense; so nothing homophobic, racist, or sexual, and don't use AI while writing your submission. Our goal is to make this magazine a place for teens!

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Can I submit to multiple categories?

Yes, of course—we encourage you to submit to as many categories as you want, as long as you stay within the word counts and piece limits for each category.

  • How do I know if I'm accepted or not?

For the first issue, we're accepting all pieces that we receive, so long as they adhere to the theme provided (if they don't, we'll send you an email letting you know why your piece won't be getting published, though you're welcome to resubmit!). After your piece is submitted and we finish reviewing it, one of our amazing editors will reach out to begin the editing process!

  • Do you accept previously published submissions?

Unfortunately, no! However, simultaneous submissions are welcome, so long as you reach out to us if your piece is accepted/published somewhere else first. As for pieces you publish with us, you're welcome to submit them to other literary magazines/other publishers, but please credit us as your first place of publication.

  • Does it cost any money to submit?

No! It's absolutely free to submit to Limerence Lit (and it's also free to read our issues, though we are super grateful for anyone who donates to support us!). Publishing is already hard enough without financial barriers preventing people from spreading their voices.

  • Are there any other categories?

Yes! We also have a cover design contest, a place to add song suggestions to create a playlist (any songs you think go with the vibe), and a section for book recommendations for that trope (opposites attract/grumpy x sunshine)!
